A Colorado woman, Jessica Hoff, has been arrested after her mother, LaVonne Hoff, was found dead in their home, allegedly attacked by dogs.
Police discovered the 76-year-old’s body on February 3 after responding to a report of an unconscious woman. Officers found over 50 dogs, with some running loose and others in cages. “Detectives learned that while LaVonne Hoff was left alone, she was attacked by the dogs that were loose in the home,” authorities stated. An autopsy confirmed she died from injuries related to a dog attack.

LaVonne suffered from severe dementia and required constant care. Jessica allegedly left her mother alone while running errands in Pueblo. She now faces charges of criminal negligence and multiple counts of animal cruelty.
Authorities seized 54 dogs and seven birds, many in poor health and unsanitary conditions. Hoff is being held at Pueblo County Jail on a $50,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 27.
