A quiet afternoon in rural Pennsylvania turned tragic when five police officers were shot Wednesday. Three remain in critical condition, and a York County Sheriff’s Deputy was also injured.
Authorities say the officers were serving a warrant when the suspect opened fire. The alleged shooter later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. “Pray that everyone is safe,” wrote Congressman Scott Perry as the situation unfolded.

Schools, hospitals, and Wellspan Hospital were placed on lockdown as helicopters rushed victims to emergency care. York Hospital confirmed two patients are in serious condition and has increased security. Governor Josh Shapiro urged locals to “follow directions of law enforcement and PA State Police.”
Community leaders and state officials expressed grief and solidarity. “We are deeply saddened by the shooting,” Pennsylvania House Republicans said in a statement.
