What started as a holiday trip turned tragic when the Wilson family from Kingwood, Texas, was swept away by flash floods over the Fourth of July weekend. Jeff, Amber, and their 12-year-old son Shiloh had traveled to Kerrville for a youth rodeo and were camping near the Guadalupe River when disaster struck.
Amber’s brother, John Ledford, raised the alarm online after losing contact with the family. Jeff’s body was later recovered, but Amber and Shiloh remain missing. Their truck was found submerged—without the camper attached—and Shiloh’s belongings were discovered 13 miles downstream. Search efforts are ongoing.

Jeff Wilson was a beloved teacher at Kingwood Park High School. Former students and colleagues gathered at a vigil to honor his legacy. “He was more than a teacher,” one student said. “He was like family.”
The community continues to rally around the Wilsons, hoping for answers. As John Ledford put it, “I’m still praying to God the other two are found safe.” The search for Amber and Shiloh remains active, with hope guiding every step.
