‘Didn’t Really Get a Lot of Sleep’: Dennis Quaid Recalls Fearful Night Waiting to Hear From Daughter During Deadly Texas Floods

Actor Dennis Quaid recently shared his emotional experience during the Texas floods that killed over 100 people. His 17-year-old daughter, Zoe, was working as a camp counselor just miles from the disaster zone when he couldn’t reach her. “I didn’t really get a lot of sleep that night,” Quaid said.

Though Zoe and others at Camp Longhorn were unharmed, the surrounding area suffered deeply. One camper lost her entire family when their RV was swept away. Quaid expressed heartbreak for the victims and highlighted the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund as a way to help.

The tragedy hit closer to home for Quaid’s family friends, Clark and Tavia Hunt. Their 9-year-old relative, Janie Hunt, died at nearby Camp Mystic. “I can’t imagine how devastating that would be,” Quaid added. Tavia later shared her grief and reflections on faith in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Despite the tragedy, Zoe later posted smiling photos from camp, offering a glimpse of hope. Quaid’s story is a powerful reminder that disasters leave emotional marks long after the waters recede.
