She was told to “just change her bra.” Months later, she learned she was dying.
When Laura Mcloughlin, 38, from Doncaster, felt sharp pain in her breast, a rushed doctor dismissed it as irritation from a wired bra. “He said it was hormonal and told me not to worry,” she recalled. But the pain never went away. When her nipple began to invert, she demanded another check — and doctors finally discovered a 9cm tumour. It was stage four cancer.

“I thought I was going to die,” Laura said quietly. “The hardest part was telling my children.” Her diagnosis came too late for surgery, and she now lives with incurable cancer — sustained by medication and hope.
Today, Laura volunteers with the breast cancer charity CoppaFeel, urging other women to trust their instincts. “If something doesn’t feel right, get it checked — don’t wait,” she warns.
