The Duchess of Kent has died peacefully at age 92, Buckingham Palace confirmed. Known as a glamorous “Yorkshire lass”, she devoted her life to charity and music. She became a familiar face at Wimbledon, most famously comforting tennis star Jana Novotna in 1993. “She was such a kind, genuine and understanding person,” recalled a close friend.

Married to Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, the Duchess raised three children and lived much of her later life away from the spotlight. In 1992, she converted to Catholicism, and a Catholic funeral is expected in the coming week. Tributes poured in from the Royal Family and beyond. The Prince and Princess of Wales said, “She worked tirelessly to help others and supported many causes, including through her love of music.”
Her passing has left a deep mark on family, friends, and admirers. The world remembers her quiet strength, compassion, and dedication. What will you remember most about the Duchess of Kent?
