Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, didn’t forget the kindness of those who helped him during his teenage struggles. When he faced homelessness, Bruno Lauer, a friend who once offered him shelter in a “tiny room” at an Alamo Plaza motel, played a crucial role. Johnson recalled, “Bruno could’ve said, ‘Hell no,’ but he didn’t. He took this punk kid in, and we became lifelong friends.”
Years later, during Johnson’s wrestling career launch in Memphis, Lauer again extended support, providing a trailer and even contributing “his last $40 bucks.” Grateful for Lauer’s generosity, Johnson gifted him a brand new car, expressing, “I love you, brother. Your kindness and heart helped change my life’s trajectory.”
Lauer, overwhelmed, responded, “I can’t believe it, I love you so much, not ‘cause of this, ‘cause of who you are.” The exchange exemplifies Johnson’s commitment to acknowledging the support that shaped his extraordinary journey.
