Tiago Augusto Nicolau, a 30-year-old father from Brazil, tragically died after being tortured in a brutal robbery. While out to wash his car, Tiago was ambushed by two armed attackers who forced him to a remote area and made him drink acid.
He was found the next day by a local worker, severely injured and struggling to breathe. Rushed to the hospital in Leme, São Paulo, Tiago was placed in intensive care with damage to his mouth, throat, and esophagus. Sadly, he died on June 18 before he could fully describe the attack.

The robbers escaped with his Renault Sandero and phone. Originally treated as a robbery, the case is now being investigated as a robbery-homicide. Authorities are still searching for the suspects.
Tiago, once a Brazilian Air Force member, had become a taxi driver to support his wife and young daughter, Sofia. “You were my brother,” said friend Luana Sampaio. “A man with a huge heart who lived and dreamed for Sofia.” He was laid to rest on June 20.
