A heartbreaking murder-suicide has shaken Dawson County, Nebraska, after Jeremy Koch, 42, allegedly killed his wife, Bailey, 41, and sons Hudson, 18, and Asher, 16, before taking his own life. Authorities discovered all four family members with fatal stab wounds in their home near Johnson Lake on May 10. A knife was found at the scene.
Bailey, a passionate mental health advocate and writer, had openly shared her family’s long struggle with Jeremy’s worsening mental illness. Her final post on her page, Anchoring Hope for Mental Health, discussed seeking advanced treatment for Jeremy, whom she described as battling psychosis.

Her father, Lane Peg Kugler, discovered the tragedy and shared, “It was not Jeremy that committed this horrific act. It was a sick mind.” He emphasized Bailey’s efforts to save others through her honest writings, though she couldn’t save her own family.
Tributes continue to pour in remembering Bailey as a selfless mother, educator, and a beacon of hope. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her advocacy and compassion.
