Family of Renee Good release heartbreaking statement after her death in Minnesota ICE shooting

The family of Renee Good released a heart-breaking statement after her death on January 7. Protests now fill the streets of Minneapolis following the fatal ICE shooting.

A Loving Legacy

Renee Good was a 37-year-old poet and mother of three. Her family described her as a beautiful light who brought joy to everyone. “She was relentlessly hopeful and optimistic which was contagious.” Also, her wife said kindness radiated out of her at all times. Good leaves behind three children who must now grow up without her.

Tension in Minneapolis

The shooting sparked large marches across the Twin Cities. Some protests led to clashes near federal buildings on Sunday night. Law enforcement used tear gas and pepper balls to move the crowds. Meanwhile, local schools closed for a day to keep students safe. Many residents feel distressed by the heavy presence of federal agents.

Investigation Becomes Contested

The FBI is now the only group leading the shooting probe. Local officials were removed from the investigation earlier this week. However, Senator Tina Smith wants more oversight of federal actions. Mayor Jacob Frey also questioned the official story from the government. “If he was hit and run over by a car, how the hell is he still holding on to his cell phone afterwards?”

Federal Response Continues

The agent involved belongs to a special tactical unit within ICE. Secretary Kristi Noem is now sending hundreds more agents to Minnesota. She says these agents will support ongoing federal operations.
