A family camping trip turned into heartbreak when Shaun Ranger and his children, Baylee, 7, and Chandler, 6, were killed in a fiery car crash on July 20, 2025. The accident happened on Queensland’s Capricorn Highway in Australia. Shaun’s fiancée, Renee Carla Jenkins, and their youngest child, Saphora, 2, were traveling in a separate vehicle and survived.
Police reported that Shaun’s car, a Holden Commodore, collided head-on with a Toyota Hilux before both vehicles caught fire. Rockhampton Police Inspector Ben Wiltshire described the scene as “horrific” and reminded drivers that “a split second can have lifelong consequences.”

Renee shared her grief, saying her heart had been “ripped to shreds.” She described Baylee as “a ray of sunshine” and Chandler as “gentle and loving.” Shaun, she said, was “a devoted father who would go to the ends of the earth for us.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral costs and support Renee and Saphora. Authorities continue to investigate the crash, which is part of a troubling rise in Queensland’s 2025 road toll.
