A Florida family vacation aboard the Carnival Horizon turned into an unimaginable tragedy when 18-year-old Anna Kepner died suddenly during the voyage. What began as a routine trip ended with grief, confusion, and an urgent search for answers.

Authorities confirmed that Anna, a high school senior from Titusville, passed away on November 7, 2025, while the ship was sailing between Cozumel and Miami. The vessel returned to PortMiami the following day, where stunned passengers learned of the teen’s death.

Because the incident occurred in international waters, the case is now under FBI jurisdiction. The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner reported that Anna was pronounced dead at 11:17 a.m., but no cause has been released.

Anna’s father, Christopher Kepner, shared his heartbreak in an interview after returning home. He described long hours of uncertainty, limited information, and a painful wait for clarity.

“I have no idea what is going on right now,” he said. “We’re just trying to sit still and wait for answers.”
