Frugal mom-of-two sparks fierce debate after revealing that she CHARGES other parents for playdates with her children

A mother from Washington State has caused a major online debate after revealing that she charges other parents when their children visit her home for playdates.
Brianna Weimar, a 33-year-old mom of two from Monroe, shared her story on TikTok, where she has a large following. Her video showed a Venmo request she sent to another parent for $36 after hosting a playdate.

Playdate Fee Included Snacks, Soap, and Electricity

In her post, Brianna explained that she kept a running list of everything the visiting child used.
She charged for snacks, drinks, soap, and even calculated the cost of electricity used during video games. She also added a small cleaning fee after juice was spilled on her carpet.

Her list included items such as:

  • Two juice boxes
  • A bag of crackers
  • A yogurt snack
  • Three pumps of hand soap

The other parent responded angrily, calling the Venmo request a “price-gouging scheme.” Brianna defended herself, arguing that rising costs made it necessary to keep track of household expenses.

Internet Reactions Are Strong and Divided

Thousands of viewers weighed in. Most felt the request crossed a line.
One commenter wrote, “Friendships aren’t transactional.” Another said, “This is the quickest way to end all your son’s friendships.”

Others, however, supported the idea—so long as parents were warned in advance. A few even encouraged her to charge more, given inflation.

Why She Started Charging

Brianna later explained that constant playdates were affecting her family budget. With food and household supplies getting more expensive, she created a detailed spreadsheet to calculate per-item costs.
She said she has even been charged herself in the past when her child accidentally damaged someone else’s belongings.

While her Venmo request was ultimately paid, Brianna admits many parents have refused to send their children over again.
