Halle Berry addressed criticism over a playful Mother’s Day video showing her in bed with longtime partner Van Hunt. The Instagram post, filmed in Cannes, featured Berry holding a bottle of her Respin intimacy gel, part of a line supporting women through menopause.
Some online critics—mainly women—claimed the video was inappropriate. Berry responded on Today with Jenna & Friends, saying, “It’s Mother’s Day, not Kids’ Day. I’m a mother every day—I get to celebrate however I want.”

Berry defended the video, noting it was lighthearted and not explicit. “We sleep in beds—so what?” she said. She added that intimacy is natural and key to emotional and physical health, especially as people age. “It’s the most natural thing we do,” she told viewers.
Later, Berry revealed Van Hunt had proposed, though she hasn’t accepted—saying love doesn’t require marriage. “Of all my relationships, he’s the one I should’ve married,” she shared. Despite the controversy, Berry remains firm: mothers deserve joy, love, and freedom to define their day.
