New video from inside Anthony Joshua’s SUV shows the final moments before a deadly crash. The collision killed two of his closest teammates and sent Joshua to hospital.
What happened on the highway
First, the crash happened on Monday, December 29, shortly after 11 a.m. Joshua, 36, traveled in a Lexus SUV on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Makun. The SUV hit a stationary commercial truck. His personal trainer Kevin “Lateef” Ayodele and coach Sina Ghami died.

Footage and witness accounts
Next, online clips show Joshua dazed inside the wrecked vehicle. Other videos show emergency crews helping him from the damaged SUV. A witness told Sky News he heard a loud “boom” and saw a car under a truck. He said Joshua looked shocked and could not speak.
Investigators and possible cause
Also, authorities said five people were involved in the crash. Police first discussed speed and an overtaking move, but later focused on mechanical failure. Officials said the SUV suffered a tyre burst, meaning a tire failed suddenly at speed. They said the driver lost control and hit the parked lorry. Joshua was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was reported stable.
Finally, Joshua’s team confirmed the deaths and asked for privacy. The state governments said he narrowly escaped death and promised a full investigation. The tragedy happened ten days after his knockout win over Jake Paul.
