Eilish continued, “It just makes me feel so seen. Also, a thousand of my relatives are in the crowd right now, I’m pretty sure.” Critics claimed her comment would not be accepted if made by a Black or brown artist. One user posted, “Her filter dropped for a moment and her true thoughts came out.”
Others defended Eilish, saying she was simply proud of her Irish roots. This isn’t the first time the singer has faced criticism — from being called a “nepo baby” to dealing with celebrity impersonators.
