A traveller has shared why her visit to Egypt became one of the most stressful trips she has ever taken.
Grace Cheng, a travel blogger, spent a week visiting famous sites such as the Pyramids of Giza. While she admired the history, she says she felt unsafe throughout her stay.

She described constant pressure from aggressive scammers near tourist attractions. According to Grace, people repeatedly demanded money, pushed services on visitors, or tried to trick them into paying after offering help or photos. She said the nonstop harassment was exhausting and unsettling.
Even with a tour guide, Grace said the experience did not improve much. She explained that guides and their contacts often tried to upsell extra activities, which added to her discomfort. She warned travellers not to accept photos, items placed in their hands, or invitations to follow strangers, as these often lead to demands for payment.
Grace also advised against travelling alone, especially for women. She said unwanted staring from men made her feel uneasy and added to her anxiety. On top of this, she worried constantly about the safety of her belongings, fearing her luggage could be stolen.
After sharing her story online, many other travellers echoed her concerns. Several said Egypt was the only country where they felt unsafe, while others admitted they now feel hesitant to visit despite wanting to see its historic landmarks.
Grace said her goal was not to attack the country, but to warn future visitors so they can better prepare and protect themselves.
