ICE agent who shot Renee Good is now a millionaire through online fundraisers as billionaire defends decision to donate

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jonathan Ross could become a millionaire due to money raised through online fundraisers.

Ross fatally shot Renee Nicole Good on January 7 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The shooting happened during protests against ICE.

A fire department report later confirmed that Good, a 37-year-old mother, was shot four times. She was hit in the chest, arm, and head. Emergency crews attempted lifesaving efforts, but she was pronounced dead 48 minutes after paramedics arrived.

Following her death, a fundraiser for Good’s widow and family raised $1.5 million in just 48 hours. The campaign was closed on January 9.

Separate fundraisers were later created in support of Ross. He has reportedly not returned to work since the shooting.

On a GoFundMe page set up for Ross, billionaire Bill Ackman donated $10,000. The donation sparked criticism online. Ackman later defended his decision, saying his intent was to help support legal defense efforts, not to make a political statement.

The GoFundMe for Ross has raised nearly $760,000 so far. A separate fundraiser on GiveSendGo has collected over $282,000. Combined, donations for Ross total about $1.04 million at the time of writing.

An update posted on January 13 stated that contact had been made with Ross and plans were underway to transfer the funds according to his wishes.
