In a shocking new video, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, the only survivor of the Air India crash, can be seen limping away from the burning wreckage. The 40-year-old British man was on flight AI171, which tragically crashed into a building in Ahmedabad, India, on June 12, killing all 241 passengers and crew, as well as dozens more on the ground.
Ramesh recalls unbuckling his seatbelt, pushing through the wreckage with his leg, and crawling to safety. “When I got up, there were bodies all around me,” he said. Despite being surrounded by flames, he walked out, dazed but alive, with thick black smoke and fire raging behind him.

Tragically, Ramesh’s brother Ajay, seated nearby, did not survive the crash. Ramesh, who was headed home to the UK, describes hearing a loud noise and seeing flickering lights before the crash. Though the crash’s cause remains unclear, he is thankful for his survival.
Doctors confirmed Ramesh’s injuries were minor, and he remains in stable condition. Authorities are investigating the crash, with the jet’s black box recovered to help explain what went wrong.
