Influencer Melissa Mae Carlton has announced the death of her youngest daughter, Molly, who passed away on Christmas Day.
It is the family’s second tragedy in less than two years. About 20 months ago, Melissa and her husband, Tom, lost their 9-year-old daughter, Abi, who died after a short and sudden illness caused by sepsis.
Melissa shared the news in an emotional Instagram post with photos of Molly and the family. She wrote that Molly is now reunited with her “big sister Abi,” and said that belief is one of the few things giving her comfort.

The family described feeling shocked, drained, and overwhelmed as they face a new wave of grief. Melissa also shared her worries for their surviving children, Harry and Lily, and the difficult days ahead.
As support poured in, online speculation about Molly’s cause of death began to spread. Melissa addressed it directly, even while mourning.
She said an official diagnosis has not been confirmed yet, but doctors strongly suspect a genetic heart condition. They also believe the same condition could have played a role in Abi’s death.
Melissa added that even a minor illness can sometimes trigger a sudden heart event in children. The family plans to pursue further genetic testing, and hopes their story may help others affected by sudden unexpected death in children (SUDC).
