Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary Black Sabbath frontman, passed away on July 21, 2025, at the age of 76. True to his dark humor, Ozzy had often shared how he wanted his funeral to be more of a celebration than a solemn event.
“I honestly don’t care what they play at my funeral… but I do want to make sure it’s a celebration, not a mope-fest,” Ozzy once said. He joked about having pranks at his service, like someone knocking from inside the coffin, or a video asking for a “second opinion” on his death.
The rock icon also revealed he wanted “A Day in the Life” by The Beatles played at his memorial, rather than his own hits. “I don’t want my funeral to be sad. I want it to be a time to say ‘thanks,’” he said.
His sisters, Jean Powell and Gillian Hemming, shared their shock at his passing. “He was frail but it still came as a shock… He still had plans,” Jean said. Despite his fame, his family remembers him simply as “John,” still cracking jokes until the end.
