Donald Trump’s golf getaways are hitting American taxpayers hard, even as he complains about costly public holidays. Despite calling for fewer “non-working holidays,” reports reveal his leisure trips have drained over $26 million by late March and nearly $30 million by April.
The bulk of the cost comes from Air Force One flights, extra cargo jets, motorcades, and round-the-clock security. A single two-hour flight from Washington D.C. to Palm Beach alone costs taxpayers about $1 million each time. Local police also spend big on overtime, helicopters, and extra staff to keep him safe at Mar-a-Lago.

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett didn’t hold back, saying, “Trump’s golfing has cost us approximately $26 million… we’re not getting anything in return for that.” One weekend can burn through $3–4 million, not counting added expenses for helicopters and local law enforcement.
Critics say the president’s lavish hobby contradicts his claims about saving money. With more visits planned, security costs will likely keep climbing, leaving taxpayers to foot the bill for Trump’s favorite pastime.
