Jennifer Coolidge says her “American Pie” role changed her dating life. She played Stifler’s mom in 1999, when she was 38. The movie turned the character into a pop culture “MILF” icon.
In a 2022 interview with Variety, Coolidge said the role brought her lots of attention. She joked that it even changed who she slept with. She said she slept with about 200 men because of the movie’s fame.
Coolidge returned as Stifler’s mom in four films:
- American Pie
- American Pie 2
- American Wedding
- American Reunion
But the fame had a downside. Coolidge said Hollywood then boxed her into “funny” roles. She mentioned parts like Stifler’s mom and Paulette in Legally Blonde. She said she started to doubt herself when she did not get serious roles.
Later, her work on HBO’s The White Lotus helped shift that. She credited creator Mike White for trusting her with a deeper character. The show boosted her standing in the industry and earned her her first Emmy nomination.
