When Jillian Michaels looks back on her teen years, she remembers just wanting to fit in. “I shaved half my head because punk was cool,” she says. “We all follow trends — it’s what kids do.”

But today, she warns, a much deeper trend has taken hold — one that’s leaving lasting scars. Michaels believes society has rushed to label confused teens as “trans” instead of helping them slow down and talk. “Hair grows back,” she says softly. “Breasts don’t.”
New studies now show the number of young people identifying as transgender is dropping fast. Experts say it may be a sign that many are rethinking what once felt like an irreversible decision. Across Europe, doctors are backing away from aggressive treatments for minors, calling the evidence “weak” and “unsafe.”

Michaels’ message is simple yet powerful: “True compassion isn’t blind affirmation — it’s honest care.”
And maybe, she adds, the bravest thing we can do for our kids is to pause before we push.
