Joaquin Phoenix Abruptly Quit Gay Movie with Graphic Bold Scenes 5 Days before Filming & Users Agree with It

Joaquin Phoenix recently exited an explicit Todd Haynes film just five days before production was set to begin. The untitled project, co-developed by Phoenix, was to be a period gay romance set in 1930s Los Angeles. Haynes shared that Phoenix “was pushing me further and going, ‘No, let’s go further,'” encouraging the film’s bold, adult themes.

Despite the project’s momentum, Phoenix left unexpectedly, leaving the crew in Mexico and financiers facing significant losses. An insider suggested the actor had “cold feet” about the film. Haynes confirmed the movie was intended to feature explicit gay sex scenes, marking Phoenix’s first role of this kind.

At a press conference, Phoenix declined to explain his decision, stating, “It doesn’t feel like that would be right…I just don’t think I will.” Social media largely supported Phoenix, with one user stating, “I agree it was HIS decision to make.” Others praised his values, calling his choice the “right decision.”

The future of the film remains uncertain, with no plans to replace Phoenix, and compensation for the crew remains a priority.
