Wrestler and actor John Cena has revealed he was diagnosed with skin cancer after years of neglecting sun protection. In a candid interview, the 47-year-old opened up about his experience, hoping it encourages others to prioritize their health.
“It wasn’t until I went to a dermatologist and got a skin checkup and had a cancerous spot removed from my right pec,” Cena shared. “You got to come back in,” he recalled being told in a moment he described as devastating.

Cena, who now stars in Neutrogena’s “Sunscreen You Can’t See” campaign, says his upbringing and early habits contributed to the diagnosis. “I was stubborn. I didn’t want to have a routine… and it caught up with me.”
He later had another spot removed from his shoulder and now stresses the importance of sun safety. “Applying sunscreen should be like brushing your teeth.”
Fans have rallied behind him online. One wrote, “I really admire John Cena for being brave enough to speak out about his experience.” Another added, “His openness can help encourage others.”
