Joy Behar, the renowned television host and co-host of “The View,” recently celebrated her 81st birthday, revealing she’s happily married to retired school teacher Steve Janowitz. Their journey, however, took nearly three decades before they tied the knot in August 2011.
Behar, who returned to “The View” in 2015 after a brief departure, shared her perspective on being fired in 2013, stating, “I was glad to be fired. I basically was sick of the show at that point.” She remains committed, having signed a contract extension in October 2022, expressing, “I have no plans to retire.”
Despite the show’s success, Behar remains modest about her birthday, stating, “I’m just glad I’m alive.” She shared insights into her marriage, emphasizing their lack of sensitivity, good humor, and a mutual understanding of each other.
Janowitz, seven years younger than Behar, has been her husband for 12 years. Joy humorously revealed their long wait for marriage, saying, “We did it for the sex.” She clarified that, as she ages, she values having someone there for her emotionally and legally.
Beyond her TV career, Behar is a mother to daughter Eve, born during her first marriage. In a family snapshot, the proud grandmother showcased her grandson Luca, now a teenager, alongside Eve and her husband Alphonso Scotti. Eve, an artist, recently exhibited her work in Sag Harbor, New York.
