Kanye West Demands People Stop Using His ‘Slave Name’ And Use His Real Name Instead

Kanye West — or Ye, as he now insists on being called — has reignited conversation about his identity.

The Grammy-winning rapper, known for his headline-making behavior, is demanding the world stop using what he calls his “slave name,” Kanye West, and instead refer to him only as Ye.

His chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos, recently sent letters to media outlets and streaming platforms, reminding them that the rapper legally changed his name in 2021. “Ye didn’t take this decision lightly,” the letter reads, noting that he’s giving up the immense brand value tied to his former name.

Fans online remain divided. “I respect what people want to be called, but I’m not a fan of his antics,” one wrote. Others say his message is misunderstood.

Ye explained that the name reflects his faith. “It’s the most used word in the Bible. It means you,” he said. “I’m you, I’m us.”

Many still remember when he teased the change after his 2018 album Ye, declaring, “I am YE.” And now, he’s making sure everyone else remembers too.
