Comedian Katherine Ryan has hit back after facing criticism for comments made in a past interview. The 41-year-old star admitted she once made a shocking deal with a former boss to leave work early.
Speaking to Louis Theroux in 2022, Ryan recalled jokingly offering a sexual act in exchange for finishing her shift. She later explained, “I liked him. That’s key. He wasn’t just some guy.” She also noted that other women in the office had similar arrangements at the time.
After the clip resurfaced online, Ryan addressed the backlash on Instagram. “I’m neither proud, nor shameful of the choices I made in my youth,” she wrote. She explained that younger women in her generation often navigated a culture of objectification differently than today.
Fans have shown strong support, with one saying, “The power imbalance was key. He was in the wrong, not her.” Ryan, who is now expecting her fourth child, says she has moved on from those experiences.

What do you think—does culture today handle these situations differently than in the past?
