Kelly Clarkson, singer and host of The Kelly Clarkson Show, has openly shared her views on parenting, including spanking. Speaking on Atlanta’s 94.1 radio, she said, “I’m not above a spanking. My parents spanked me, and I turned out fine.”
Clarkson explained that she doesn’t hit hard and always gives a warning first. “I say, ‘If you don’t stop, I’m going to spank you on your bottom.’ Honestly, it’s really helped. She doesn’t do that kind of stuff as often.”
She admitted it’s “tricky” to discipline in public because many people judge it. However, Clarkson believes a light spanking can be effective when done with care.
Clarkson has two children, River Rose and Remington, with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. She has also spoken about “mum guilt,” saying, “There are days where I cry… but 99 percent of the time, it’s worth it.” Parenthood, she says, has made her more cautious and protective than ever before.
