Kianna Jackson, 25, was tragically shot and killed on June 16 while in the drive-through at a McDonald’s in Brandon, Mississippi. The Pearl native was found dead at the scene by police just before 7 p.m.
The suspected shooter, 27-year-old Jhonterryes Dampier, was also found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital but later died. Authorities believe the incident was domestic, though the exact relationship between Jackson and Dampier has not been disclosed.
Brandon’s mayor called it “a horrible incident,” especially since it happened near children. McDonald’s management offered condolences and support to the victim’s family and employees, while police confirmed there’s no ongoing threat to public safety.
Jackson leaves behind a five-year-old daughter and a three-year-old son. A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $17,000 to support funeral costs and provide for the children’s future. Organizers described her as “a cherished mother” and “beloved friend.” A memorial service is scheduled for June 27, with additional funds going into a trust for her children.
