A terrifying murder trial in Poland has revealed that a young woman’s life ended based on a random toss of a coin. Mateusz Hepa, 20, has confessed to killing 18-year-old Wiktoria Kozielska after deciding her fate with a simple game of heads or tails.
A Chance Encounter Turned Deadly
The tragedy occurred in August 2023 in the city of Katowice. Wiktoria was returning home from a party when she met Hepa, a car mechanic who had just finished work.
After she agreed to go back to his apartment and fell asleep, Hepa claims he felt a sudden “need to kill.” He had reportedly been wandering the town earlier that day looking for a victim.

The Chilling Confession
Hepa told the court in Gliwice that he used a coin toss to make the final decision.
“It came up heads, so I killed her,” he stated coldly. “If it had been tails, she would probably still be alive.”
The killer admitted to strangling the teenager with a rope. In a disturbing twist, he confessed to defiling her corpse after the murder. He wrapped the body in plastic and initially planned to burn the evidence, but eventually called the police himself.

Facing Justice
As the victim’s devastated parents watched, Hepa claimed he had no control over his actions. He remains in custody and faces a potential life sentence. The trial is set to resume on February 12.
