Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota has died at age 28 in a car crash, along with his brother, André Felipe Silva. The fatal accident occurred on July 3, 2025, near Zamora, Spain, when their vehicle suffered a tire blowout and caught fire. Spanish agency EFE confirmed both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Jota, born in Porto in 1996, began his football career at Paços de Ferreira and later joined Atlético Madrid. After loan spells at Porto and Wolves, he transferred permanently to Wolverhampton before making a £40 million move to Liverpool in 2020. He scored 47 Premier League goals in 123 appearances and helped secure multiple trophies for the club.

Internationally, Jota earned 49 caps and scored 14 goals for Portugal, playing key roles in their UEFA Nations League wins in 2019 and 2025. His final match for the national team came just weeks before his passing.
Off the field, Jota loved gaming, was a FIFA champion, and recently married longtime partner Rute Cardoso. In his own words: “June 22, 2025. Yes to forever.”
