A British man has been arrested for attempting to “marry” a 9-year-old Ukrainian girl in a fake wedding at Disneyland Paris. The shocking event happened on June 21 and left park staff and bystanders horrified.
The man privately booked part of the park near Sleeping Beauty’s castle and staged the $150,000 ceremony with around 100 hired guests. According to prosecutors, he used fake documents and posed as a Latvian national to secure the venue.
Police quickly shut down the event when they realized the bride was a child. The man, the girl’s mother, and others were arrested. Authorities later revealed the suspect is a convicted sex offender wanted in the UK for breaking parole rules.
Disneyland Paris canceled the payment and is fully cooperating with police. Fortunately, officials say the girl was not harmed physically or sexually. Prosecutors believe everyone involved, including the park and extras, were tricked by the suspect’s lies. The disturbing incident has sparked outrage and a deeper investigation.
