A 42-year-old man has revealed what it was like to be dead for ten minutes and then return to life. Matthew Allick collapsed in August 2023 after suffering a cardiac arrest caused by a massive blood clot.
“I remember thinking, ‘I can’t climb these stairs,’ and asked my friend to call an ambulance,” he recalled. Moments later, he lost his pulse. Doctors used CPR and a defibrillator to bring him back.

Matthew said he doesn’t remember what happened while he was gone. But he described waking up from his coma as peaceful. “It felt like a deep sleep. Everything was calm,” he explained. Scans later showed clots the size of a cricket ball in his heart and lungs.
Now recovering, Matthew says he feels about 75 percent back to normal. “I’ll be on blood thinners forever, but I’m so grateful to be alive,” he said. He credits his survival to doctors, loved ones, and crucial blood transfusions.
His story is a reminder of how fragile life can be—and how much every heartbeat matters.
