A family outing turned into a nightmare when a baby boy was badly burned in what police describe as a random attack in a Brisbane park. A stranger allegedly poured very hot coffee from a thermos over the child and ran away.
The baby, Luka, was with his mother and a friend when it happened. Police have released images of a man they want to speak to, but he has not been found. Officers have described the incident as sudden and unexpected.

Luka’s mother has shared that he is showing strong signs of recovery even while facing more medical treatment. She said he is back to being active and walking again as he awaits another surgery. She has also explained that the burns were serious, with areas on his neck and chest likely to leave scars. Doctors have raised the possibility that he may need a skin graft.
To help cover medical costs and ongoing care, supporters started a fundraising campaign for the family. Luka’s mother said the response has eased some of the pressure and will also help the family cope emotionally after such a traumatic event.

The investigation continues as police work to identify the person responsible.
When something this shocking happens in a public place, what do you think communities can do to better protect families and support victims?
