Ukrainian model Maria Kovalchuk, 20, suffered life-changing injuries in Dubai after what she described as a terrifying attack. She was found on a roadside with a broken spine, broken limbs, and severe head injuries. Maria, who was in a coma for weeks, is now learning to walk again with crutches.

Maria said she had been invited to a hotel party after missing her flight to Thailand. At the party, she claims a group of “rich Russian kids” became aggressive because she refused to drink. “They took my passport and said, ‘You belong to us. We will do whatever we want,’” Maria recalled.

She alleges that the men tried to force themselves on her, smashing bottles and intimidating her. Maria tried to escape but was dragged back and later found herself hiding in a construction site. “I think maybe I was thrown or beaten. My injuries look like both,” she said.

Dubai police detained the suspects for one day but have not pursued charges. Maria’s mother insists her daughter did not attempt suicide, calling police claims “completely false.”
