Tragedy struck in July when devastating floods swept through Central Texas, killing over 130 people, including campers. Among the victims were eight-year-old Eloise Peck and her best friend, nine-year-old Lila Bonner, who were attending Camp Mystic.
Eloise’s mother, Missy Peck, says she later received a sign from heaven. “I looked up in the sky and saw a clear ‘E,’” she recalled. “It could only be Lulu and God working together.”

Lila’s mother, Caitlin, also believes her daughter sent a message. After begging for a sign, she discovered dozens of ladybugs filling her staircase and porch. “Mom, Lila’s here!” her daughter Scarlet whispered, bringing comfort through tears.
The families have joined together to create the Heaven’s 27 Foundation, honoring the 27 lives lost. Their goal is to make camps safer with the proposed Heaven’s 27 Camp Safety Act.

As Lila’s father said, “Nothing will bring these girls back. We’re trying to honor their legacy.”
Even in tragedy, love and faith can leave powerful signs for those left behind.
