Jim and I enjoyed a peaceful life on Maple Street, but everything changed one night when we saw flames coming from our neighbors’ house. James and Eloise, devastated by a fire caused by faulty wiring, stood on our lawn in shock. I wrapped Eloise in a blanket and offered them a place to stay.
We settled them in our basement, which we had converted into a guest area. Initially, things seemed calm, but James soon asked me to open a door under the stairs. To my horror, I found five rabbits inside, despite Jim’s promise to rehome them due to my allergies.
Jim admitted he couldn’t part with them and had secretly kept them in the basement. James and Eloise, surprised by the discovery, suggested we find a new home for the rabbits. Our neighbor Jules offered to take them in, which relieved us both.
After the rabbits were gone, Jim and I focused on improving our communication. We decided on a fish tank as a new pet, finding joy in a solution that worked for both of us.
