Nearly 400 dead bodies found piled up at mysterious site at US and Mexico border

A horrifying discovery was made in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, where nearly 400 bodies were found piled inside a neglected private crematorium. Authorities found 383 full bodies and six partial remains, none of which had been cremated as promised. Some had been left there for up to two years.

The bodies—218 male, 149 female, and 16 unidentified—were embalmed and tagged with hospital information. Officials say families were given fake ashes while the real bodies were hidden in a warehouse. “They were just thrown like that, indiscriminately,” said prosecutor spokesperson Eloy Garcia.

The crematorium, Plenitud, reportedly worked with six to seven funeral homes. Two men—owner José Luis Arellano Cuaron and employee Facundo M.R.—have been arrested and face charges of abuse of corpses and fraud. They are currently in pretrial detention.

State officials have pledged justice. “We will seek the highest possible penalty,” said Attorney General César Jáuregui Moreno. Families affected by the scam are being offered full support as investigations continue.
