Nebulasexual is a newer label you may hear online. Tumblr users coined the term in 2014.
People use “nebulasexual” when their sexuality feels unclear or hard to name. The word “nebula” fits because things can feel foggy.
Here’s the basic idea:
- Nebulasexual often sits under the quoisexual umbrella.
- Quoisexual labels describe people who can’t tell if they feel sexual attraction.
- This confusion may link to neurodivergence or intrusive thoughts.

Someone who is nebulasexual might want sex or a relationship. They still may not know if attraction drives that desire. Some sites say the label fits best for neurodivergent people or those with intrusive thoughts.
A sex and relationship therapist, Annabelle Knight, said the feeling is not new. She said some neurodivergent people read body signals and emotions differently. That can make attraction harder to spot. The label gives a name to that uncertainty.

Some studies suggest neurodivergent people identify as LGBTQ at higher rates. Still, every person’s experience differs.
If you feel unsure about your sexuality, you can talk to someone you trust. A counselor or therapist can also help.
