Prize Given to Trump
The Nobel Peace Center responded after María Corina Machado gave her medal to Donald Trump.
Machado received the Nobel Peace Prize in October 2025.
She won the award for promoting democratic rights in Venezuela.
Trump had previously said several times he felt he deserved the prize.

Background on Machado
Machado served in Venezuela’s National Assembly from 2011 to 2014.
She met Trump at the White House on Thursday, January 15.
The meeting followed her praise for Trump after Nicolás Maduro was captured.
She earlier told reporters justice defeated tyranny on January 3.
“January 3 will go down in history as the day justice defeated tyranny.”
Oval Office Moment
During the meeting, Trump posed with the Nobel Peace Prize medal.
The photo was taken inside the Oval Office.
Machado later spoke to Fox News about the gesture.
She said she presented Trump with the Nobel Peace Prize medal.
“I presented the President of the United States the medal, the peace, the Nobel Peace Prize.”

Nobel Center Statement
The Nobel Peace Center reminded the public that medals can change owners.
However, it said the Nobel Peace Prize title cannot transfer.
“A medal can change owners, but the title of a Nobel Peace Prize laureate cannot.”
The museum explained medals have been passed on before.
It cited Dmitry Muratov and Christian Lous Lange as examples.
Trump Reacts
Trump later posted on Truth Social calling the moment a great honor.
He thanked Machado and praised her personally.
“She is a wonderful woman who has been through so much.”
