A nurse says she survived a crowbar attack in a hospital waiting area. Meg Lynch, 28, says she feels lucky to be alive.

Attack Happened Near a Vending Machine
First, Lynch said a man struck her from behind as she bought a drink. She said he hit her head several times before she ran. Next, she hid and tried to put a door between them. She later described herself as bloodied and bruised.

Hospital Treatment and Current Condition
Also, Lynch went to Whiston A&E for urgent care. She had CT scans and X-rays, and doctors stitched her head. She said her scans were clear, but she felt sore and shocked. She later said she was home with her family.

Arrest and Police Response
However, police said a 20-year-old Afghan man was arrested at the scene. They suspect he attacked staff after an appointment refusal. Police arrested him on suspicion of serious wounding charges, affray, and criminal damage. Affray means violent disorder that causes fear. They then detained him under the Mental Health Act. Officers said they recovered the metal bar and will review CCTV.

Finally, police said six people were injured and all are stable. Lynch said she does not know why the attack happened.
