First call at work
A colleague called police at 9:03 a.m. on December 30, 2025.
The Columbus Dispatch reported it used public records requests.
The caller asked for a well-being check on Spencer Tepe.
They said he missed work and could not be reached.
The colleague said:
“We’re very, very concerned. It’s very out of character,”
Missed routine
Spencer worked at Athens Dental Depot on Tuesdays.
The office opens at 8 a.m.
The caller told police he was always on time.
They also said he would call if there was any issue.
The colleague said:
“He is always on time and he would contact us if there was any issue whatsoever,”
An officer arrived around 9:22 a.m. at North 4th Street.
There was no response, and the officer left.

Alarm at the home
At 9:57 a.m., a man reported hearing children inside.
Then at 10 a.m., a coworker said she was heading there.
At 10:05 a.m., a friend called from the home.
He said:
“There is a body inside,”
Police returned and found two young children inside.
They later executed a search warrant.
Deaths confirmed
Authorities said Spencer, 37, and Monique Tepe, 39, were dead.
A Dispatch log said Spencer was shot multiple times.
Police referenced a robbery code, “41A.”
However, police said it was not a murder-suicide.
Case still active
WKYC said police are treating it as a homicide.
The New York Post said a camera may show a suspect.
Police have not confirmed that footage.
