Corey Adams, an 18-year-old freshman football player at Ole Miss, tragically died after a shooting in Cordova, Tennessee, on July 19, 2025. Deputies found him inside a vehicle and tried life-saving efforts, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were injured.
Adams, a defensive lineman from New Orleans, had just joined the University of Mississippi. He earned high honors in high school, including all-state and all-district titles. Ole Miss said they were “heartbroken” and offered condolences to his family.

Tributes poured in from teammates, coaches, and fans. A local post described him as an “all around great young man.” One of Adams’ last quotes reflected his spirit: “You can’t make me bow on the field.”
Sadly, Adams’ death follows another teen football tragedy. Alex Foster of Baylor University was also fatally shot earlier this year. As investigations continue, communities are calling for peace and remembering the dreams these young athletes carried.
