Emma Dumont has shared a personal update with fans, coming out as trans masculine and non-binary.
The 30-year-old actor signaled the change on Instagram by updating their bio and switching pronouns from “she/her” to “they/them.” A representative told TMZ that Dumont identifies as a trans masculine non-binary person.

The rep also said Dumont will continue using the name Emma Dumont professionally. In their personal life, however, they will go by a more masculine name. According to the statement, friends and family will call them Nick, and Dumont has also added “Nick Dumont” to their Instagram profile.
Dumont has not made a separate public statement beyond the social media updates. Recent posts, though, suggest a clear shift in style from the red carpet looks many viewers associate with them. In May, Dumont debuted a short, choppy haircut, moving away from their usual long, straight hair. More recent photos show a relaxed, casual wardrobe, including T-shirts and sunglasses.
Dumont gained global attention for their role in Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer, where they played Jackie, Robert Oppenheimer’s sister-in-law, alongside Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, and Florence Pugh.

They are also known for starring as Polaris in FOX’s The Gifted, which ran for two seasons from 2017 to 2019. Dumont’s credits include Aquarius, Bunheads, Pretty Little Liars, The Fosters, and The Magicians. They are next set to appear in the horror film New Me, which does not yet have a release date.
