Heather Spencer says her husband, Aaron, was arrested after he shot and killed Michael Fosler, 67, who she claims had “targeted, groomed and raped” their 14-year-old daughter. Fosler had previously been arrested in July for rape and internet stalking of a child, then released on bond with a December hearing.

Heather and Aaron woke to their dog barking and discovered their daughter missing. Aaron searched and found Fosler with the girl in his vehicle. A chase followed, the car crashed, and Aaron got the teen out. Authorities say “A confrontation between the two adult males ensued, which resulted in a shooting.”
Heather publicly backed her husband, writing: “My husband is a combat veteran, who has always protected his country and family.” She added, “My husband is a hero,” and claimed, “The system failed over and over to put away a predator.”

Aaron was preliminarily charged with first-degree murder. Sheriff John Staley said, “I absolutely do not support predators,” and explained prosecutors decide whether to file official charges. The family later posted they were seeking donations for legal fees after a GoFundMe was removed.
