Former Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins has died in prison after a violent attack by fellow inmates. The 48-year-old convicted child abuser was serving a 29-year sentence at HMP Wakefield in Yorkshire for horrific sexual crimes. Authorities confirmed he was found dead at the scene, and police have launched a full investigation.

Watkins was convicted in 2013 of 13 serious sexual offences, including the attempted rape of a baby and multiple assaults involving children. At the time, the judge said the case “plunged into new depths of depravity” and that Watkins showed “a complete lack of remorse.”

The disgraced rocker had been attacked before, surviving a 2023 prison assault. This latest incident, however, proved fatal. Once the frontman of a chart-topping rock band that sold millions of albums, Watkins’ downfall shocked fans worldwide. His crimes led to Lostprophets disbanding soon after his arrest.
