Parents issue desperate plea after teen daughters die on holiday

Two Australian teenagers died while on holiday in Laos, and their parents say they feel completely let down.

Holly Morton-Bowles and Bianca Jones, both 19, died after drinking alcohol contaminated with methanol at a hostel in Vang Vieng. Other tourists also died. One person survived.

The families say the legal response has been deeply disappointing. Hostel workers received suspended sentences and small fines. No charges were directly linked to the deaths of the girls.

The parents say they were not clearly informed about court proceedings. They learned important details through other families and foreign officials, not their own government.

They now say they have no options left and are pleading for help. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has admitted it failed to properly support the families.
