Parks And Recreation Star Jonathon Joss Shot And Killed By Neighbor

Actor Jonathon Joss, known for his roles in Parks and Recreation and King of the Hill, was tragically shot and killed in San Antonio over the weekend. He was 59. Police found Joss near the road after responding to a shooting call. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, 44-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, has been arrested and charged with murder. While police stated there’s no current evidence of a hate crime, Joss’s husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, claims the attack was fueled by homophobia.

According to Gonzales, the shooting happened during an emotional visit to their old home site—previously burned down after years of threats. The couple found their dog’s remains at the location, and while grieving, were confronted by a man yelling homophobic slurs. Gonzales says Joss shielded him from the gunfire, saving his life.

Joss was remembered for his humble outlook on acting: “I’ve just been really lucky to have decent parts.” His husband has not yet announced memorial plans. The investigation is ongoing.
